Hello!
My Name is Amanda and I am a genetic counselor.
I completed a dual masters of medical sciences in genetics and genetic counseling at Emory University School of Medicine in 2016. During my graduate education, I completed multiple genetics specialty rotations in prenatal, preconception, cancer, cardiology, neurology and hematology, as well as an internship in a Lysosomal Storage Disorder clinic. I gained my ABGC board certification in 2017. I have four years of oncology genetics experience and am currently seeing patients for hereditary cancer indications. I have assisted with multiple projects including education of physicians through presentations. I created and coded documentation templates in Progeny and Word, as well as query of patient information databases for quality metrics. I also assisted in creating organizational workflows utilizing technology to improve efficiency and quality of care.

EXPERTISE
ONCOLOGY GENETICS
I have a passion for oncology genetics. I enjoy researching the latest candidate genes and their associations. I closely follow publications and attend conferences to keep updated on the latest research and trends in cancer treatment and prevention.
TECHNOLOGY
I am devoted to the utilization of technology to improve the quality of care I can provide my patients as well as increasing the quantity of patients I can see. I have embraced and spearheaded policies to increase efficiency without sacrificing quality of care. I am currently learning how to code HTML and have utilized coding for documentation.
EDUCATING PHYSICIANS
I am dedicated to educating local and international physicians about best testing and management strategies to help their patients. Genetic counselors can only see so many patients. It is essential that we continually educate physicians so we can have a greater impact on a greater number of patients.
